Why publishers print children's books with us

Safety requirements agreed up front

Children’s books face different rules depending on the market, the age group and the construction. Tell us where the book is going and who it is for, and we will agree with you which materials and which documentation the production needs — we settle it before the run, not after it.

Built to survive a three-year-old

Thick greyboard board books with rounded corners, reinforced sewn bindings, scuff-resistant laminates. We will tell you which construction actually holds up at which age group, based on what has come back from the market and what has not.

Illustration reproduced properly

Children’s books live on flat colour and fine line work — the two things a badly managed press ruins first. Certified proofs, careful ink control and, where the artwork needs it, a fifth colour or Pantone so the illustrator’s palette survives the print run.

The tricky constructions too

Lift-the-flap, die-cut shaped pages, wheels, sound modules, cloth and bath books, finger-puppet holes, slipcased sets. If you have seen it in a bookshop, our binderies have almost certainly made something similar.

What our clients say

“We’ve printed several books now through Łukasz at Eastprint, and we plan to print more. Łukasz is fast, professional and always pleasant to deal with — and, crucially, he’s been able to deliver our books at good prices, on schedule.”

Frequently asked questions

Requirements differ by market, age group and construction, so we settle them per project rather than making blanket claims. Tell us the target markets and the age group at the enquiry stage and we will confirm what your production needs.

100 copies for standard hardcover and softcover picture books. Board books and books with die cutting or flaps need more, because the tooling has to pay for itself. Everything depends on the specification. We will always tell you where the break-even sits.

Yes — pages laminated onto 1.5–2 mm greyboard with rounded corners, in standard and die-cut shapes. This is a separate binding line from ordinary books, so lead times are a little longer.

Yes. Flaps, shaped pages, wheels, pull tabs and finger holes are all possible. Die cutting requires a cutting die, which is a one-off cost we quote separately — send a sketch and we will price it.

This is one of the things we do most: black plate changes for each language on a common colour run. It keeps illustration quality identical across editions and cuts the cost per language significantly. Send us the language list with the enquiry.

Around 20–25 working days for standard picture books after proof approval, longer for board books and interactive constructions. If you have a fair or a launch date, tell us first and we plan the schedule backwards from it.

Get your children's book quote

Send the format, page count, age group and target markets — we will come back with a quotation and, where relevant, a note on the safety documentation you will need.

Helpful, not required. Our book specification guide explains format, paper and binding, and the file preparation guide covers bleed, colour and export. Tell us what you know — we check everything and come back with anything that needs fixing.

Publishing a whole series?

Series printed in one run share setup costs and come out visually consistent. Send the full list of titles and we will quote them together.
